Flooring installation and repair in Medellín

Pisos Pro Medellín is a flooring company based in El Poblado that works on floors and nothing else. We install, repair and prepare the base across 24 flooring and floor-preparation services, from SPC and laminate to solid hardwood, porcelain tile and microcement.

We work for families in apartments and houses, building management offices (administraciones), offices, retail stores, medical practices and gyms across the Aburrá Valley and Eastern Antioquia. Every job starts with a site visit, measurements and a moisture test of the subfloor (contrapiso).

We have more than 15 years in the trade and over 900 completed jobs, backed by a written 1-year warranty on labor. That experience shows in what you cannot see: leveling, expansion gaps and handling Medellín's humidity.

We are not a remodeling company that also lays floors. Our crews only do flooring, so they know the details that separate an installation that lasts from one that lifts in the second rainy season.

Floors we install in Medellín

We group our services by material family, because that is how most clients find us: looking for SPC, microcement or wood.

Laminate, SPC, WPC and vinyl

SPC is the most requested material in Medellín: its stone-polymer core does not swell with water, and it goes over your existing tile in 2 to 4 days.

We compare and install laminate flooring, SPC flooring, WPC flooring and click or glue-down vinyl flooring, depending on the space and your budget.

Seamless floors: microcement, epoxy and polished concrete

Joint-free surfaces for modern homes, stores, medical practices and warehouses.

We apply microcement over tile or concrete, self-leveling or roller-applied epoxy flooring, new concrete floors and polished concrete ground with diamond discs.

Repair, restoration and subfloor preparation

A large share of our work is saving the floor you already have or correcting the base before installing. An uneven or damp subfloor ruins any material, however expensive it is.

We offer hardwood floor refinishing with sanders connected to dust extraction and a fresh lacquer finish, plus laminate and SPC repair for planks that have lifted, swollen with water or opened at the joints.

We also handle floor and subfloor repair, replacing hollow tiles, sealing cracks and leveling with self-leveling compound. On ground floors and slabs poured on soil, we install a moisture barrier.

How much does flooring installation cost in Medellín?

We publish price ranges because cost is the first question almost every client asks. These are 2026 reference prices per m² in Medellín, in Colombian pesos (COP), the currency all our quotes are written in.

The final price is set at the visit and depends on leveling, removing the old floor (COP $12,000 to $25,000 per m² for ceramic tile), baseboards, cuts and building access. Our 2026 price guide, under the Guides menu, covers every material.

How we work, from site visit to handover

  1. 1

    Site visit and measurement

The visit is free in the Aburrá Valley and nearby Eastern Antioquia, usually within 24 to 72 hours. We measure the real square meters, check levels with a 2-meter straightedge and tap the tiles to find hollow pieces.

  2. 2

    Subfloor moisture test

We check the slab with a moisture meter before proposing wood, laminate or glue-down vinyl. In newly handed-over unfinished apartments (obra gris, delivered as bare concrete) or on ground floors, that reading decides whether a barrier is needed.

  3. 3

    Written quote

Within 24 to 48 hours you receive an itemized quote in Colombian pesos: materials, labor, baseboards, trims and debris removal, with no surprise charges halfway through the job.

  4. 4

    Preparation and acclimation

We protect furniture and common areas, level where needed and let wood or laminate acclimate on site. We agree on elevator use and noisy-work hours with building management (administración).

  5. 5

    Installation

We follow the manufacturer's technical data sheet: expansion joints, the right adhesive or mortar for each material, clean cuts at door frames and transition profiles between rooms.

  6. 6

    Cleanup and signed handover

We remove debris, clean up and walk the floor with you. We both sign the handover record (acta de entrega), which starts the warranty, and we leave you written care instructions.

1-year labor warranty with published terms

The warranty runs from the date of the handover record and covers failures caused by the installation: planks that lift, joints that open, tiles that sound hollow from poor adhesion and uneven spots we left behind.

It does not cover water damage or flooding, unreported subfloor moisture, leaks from the building, impacts or misuse, structural settlement, or factory defects, which are the manufacturer's responsibility.

To file a claim, just send us photos. If our assessment confirms an installation fault, we fix it at no cost.

Transition profile between SPC flooring and porcelain tile

Floors built for the Aburrá Valley's climate, pests and earthquakes

Humidity and two rainy seasons

Medellín has two rainy seasons a year, roughly March to May and September to November, and many obra gris subfloors are handed over before they have fully dried.

That is why we measure before installing and, when needed, apply a moisture barrier with a membrane or epoxy sealer.

Termites (comején) and carpenter ants

In older houses in Laureles, Belén and Envigado, termites attack untreated wooden baseboards, door frames and floors.

Before installing wood we inspect the surrounding elements, and once a pest control company has dealt with the problem, we replace damaged boards as part of a hardwood floor restoration.

Earthquakes and seismic zone

Colombia's seismic building code (NSR-10) places Medellín in an intermediate seismic hazard zone, and after a tremor it is common to find loose tiles or cracks running in a straight line.

With porcelain tile we apply adhesive to both the slab and the tile (double buttering) and respect movement joints. Before we repair floors and subfloors after a quake, we first rule out structural damage.

Areas where we install and repair floors

We head out from our office at Tv. 6 #45-115, El Poblado, to the whole Aburrá Valley and Eastern Antioquia (Oriente antioqueño).

Each area has its own challenge: hillside towers with strict building rules in El Poblado, older terrazzo in Laureles, obra gris apartments in Envigado and Sabaneta, and colder, damper conditions in Llanogrande.

  • Restoring terrazzo (granito) and parquet in Laureles and Estadio houses: grinding, crystallizing, sanding and lacquering.

Flooring FAQs for Medellín

Do you visit and measure before quoting?

Yes. The site visit is free in the Aburrá Valley and nearby Eastern Antioquia, and we schedule it within 24 to 72 hours.

We measure the actual square meters, the subfloor level, moisture and the condition of the existing tile. Then we send your written quote within 24 to 48 hours.

Do I need permission from building management to replace my floor?

In most cases you must notify the building and ask for approval. Under Colombia's condominium law (propiedad horizontal, Ley 675 de 2001), each building follows its own bylaws, which usually set work hours, elevator use and debris handling.

Replacing a floor without touching the structure counts as a minor repair (reparación locativa) and normally does not require a construction permit (licencia de construcción).

Can new flooring go over my existing tile?

In many cases, yes: SPC, laminate, click vinyl and microcement can go over firm, flat ceramic tile without demolition.

First we tap every tile to find hollow ones, which are removed and filled. We also check that unevenness stays under about 3 mm over 2 meters, or whatever the manufacturer requires.

How long does it take to replace the floors in an average apartment?

For 60 to 80 m², rigid floors (laminate, SPC and vinyl) take 2 to 4 days, engineered hardwood 3 to 5 and porcelain tile 5 to 8.

Microcement needs 6 to 9 days because of drying time between coats, and solid hardwood with sanding and lacquering takes 8 to 12.

Who removes the debris from the old floor?

We do. When we lift an old floor, removal is included in the quote: we bag the debris, take it down by elevator or along the route building management specifies, and haul it to an authorized disposal site.

That way you avoid fines from your building and piles of rubble in the parking garage.
