More cold and moisture in the Envigado hills
As you climb Loma del Escobero toward Alto de Las Palmas, the temperature drops several degrees and fog drifts into houses in the afternoon. That constant high humidity puts any wood floor to the test.
Solid hardwood moves a lot with those changes; engineered hardwood, with its cross-layered core, is more stable, which is why we prefer it in the hills. It always goes over a barrier, after the material has acclimatized inside the house for several days.
If cold floors bother you, electric radiant floor heating can go in bathrooms and bedrooms under porcelain or compatible engineered hardwood, with the electrical work compliant with RETIE (Colombia's electrical installation code).
