About us

A flooring company in Medellín with over 15 years in the trade

Pisos Pro Medellín is a flooring installation and repair company with an office in El Poblado and more than 15 years of work in the Aburrá Valley. We do one thing: floors, from the subfloor up to the last baseboard.

Our clients are apartment and house owners, small builders, condominium management offices (administraciones de propiedad horizontal) and businesses that need new floors without closing. After more than 900 completed jobs, we have seen almost every problem a Medellín subfloor can hide.

If you have never hired a contractor in Colombia, this page also lists the paperwork we provide to you and your building, and how to verify each document yourself.

Who we are and why we only do floors

Over 15 years we have seen a clear pattern: floors rarely fail because of the material. They fail because of a poorly prepared base or a rushed installation squeezed into a general remodel.

So we specialized. A company that also does drywall, painting and plumbing rarely brings a moisture meter, a 2-meter aluminum straightedge and the judgment to say that a subfloor is not ready yet.

Today we handle 24 flooring and floor-preparation services, from solid hardwood to microcement, with one fixed rule: base first, finish second.

Wooden baseboard and oak floor in a bedroom

What 900 jobs have taught us on site

Four situations we run into often, and what we do differently because of them.

Obra gris subfloors that had not dried

Many new apartments in Colombia are handed over as obra gris, with bare concrete floors and no finishes. A newly delivered unit in Envigado or Sabaneta can still have a damp slab weeks later, and wood or laminate laid on top will cup within months.

That is why no moisture-sensitive floor goes in without a moisture reading written into the quote.

Termites in the baseboards of older Laureles houses

In mid-20th-century houses with wooden baseboards and door frames, termites (comején) spread unnoticed until the floor sounds hollow.

When we remove baseboards we inspect the surrounding wood. If we find pests, we stop and recommend fumigation before any new wood goes in.

Hollow tiles after earthquakes

After a moderate tremor we get calls about tiles that sound hollow or crack along a line.

We can tell a badly bonded tile from a missing movement joint, and we replace only what is needed through floor and subfloor repair.

Laminate swollen by washing machine leaks

Standard laminate absorbs water through its joints, so a washing machine hose that drips overnight can swell several planks.

If the same product is still available, we replace only the damaged planks with laminate and SPC repair, and for laundry areas we recommend SPC.

Our installation team

We work by specialty: the person who sets large-format porcelain is not the one who sands and lacquers solid hardwood, because each trade has its own tools, timing and typical mistakes.

Everyone who enters your home or building is enrolled in social security with current ARL coverage (the occupational risk insurance every employer in Colombia must provide). If building management asks for the list of workers with their ID numbers and the payroll contribution form, we send it before the first day.

  • Moisture meters for concrete slabs and wood
  • Wood sanders connected to dust extraction
  • Wet saws and suction lifters for large-format porcelain
  • Grinders with diamond discs for concrete, terrazzo and marble

Registration, social security and documents you can verify

Condominium management offices and commercial clients usually ask for paperwork before they approve any work in the building. These are the documents we provide and how you can check each one yourself.

Brands and suppliers we work with

We are not exclusive distributors of any brand, so we recommend the product that suits your space. We always review the technical data sheet before quoting.

Laminate and rigid floors

Brands such as Quick-Step, Pergo and Kronotex, among others available in Colombia. We check the use class (AC4 or higher for busy homes) and the wear layer thickness on SPC and vinyl.

Porcelain and ceramic tile

Colombian manufacturers such as Corona and Alfagres, plus imported large-format porcelain. For bathrooms, terraces and entrances we choose slip-resistant finishes.

Adhesives, mortars and levelers

Brands such as Pegacor, Sika, Mapei and Bostik, chosen by substrate and tile format. A 60 x 120 cm porcelain tile does not go down with the same mortar as a 30 x 30 cm ceramic one.

Wood finishes

Lacquers and sealers from brands such as Bona and Pintuco, favoring low-odor water-based products when the family is still living in the home. If you ask, we look for products with emissions certifications such as FloorScore.

How we protect your home and building during the work

Protecting furniture and common areas

We cover furniture, doors and hallway floors with cardboard and plastic, and we line the elevator cab when building management requires it.

Elevator booking and agreed hours

We book the elevator and follow the work hours set in the building's internal rules. The Código Nacional de Seguridad y Convivencia Ciudadana (Ley 1801 de 2016), Colombia's national code on public order and coexistence, also limits noise that disturbs neighbors.

Dust control

We cut with extraction or outside the apartment, and we sand wood with machines connected to a vacuum so dust does not spread through the house.

Debris out the same day

We bag debris, take it out along the route building management sets and haul it to an authorized disposal site. We never leave bags in the parking garage or the trash room.
